the company
We design aluminum structures.
Our solutions for aluminum staircases, railings, balustrades, and flooring stand out for a design that weaves together aluminum and glass, giving the structures both elegance and stability.
Aluscalae’s roots trace back to 1934, the year Pietro Costa was founded—a pioneering entity in the distribution of aluminum in Italy. This foundation launched an entrepreneurial journey built on a profound knowledge of the material and the continuous evolution of its applications.
In 1968, the first generational transition took place with engineer Guido Malaisi, followed in 1988 by the entry of the family’s second generation, consolidating a wealth of expertise built over time.
In 1990, Pietro Costa became Alusuisse, and in 2002, Aluscalae Srl was officially established. Founded by Piero Malaisi Costa and engineer Franco Dettori, the company aimed to transfer its specialized know-how to the world of architecture and aluminum structures. In 2006, the arrival of Paolo Baldini further strengthened the company’s growth trajectory.
In 2008, Margherita Malaisi Costa joined the firm, ushering in a new evolutionary phase. This led to the first installations of urban railings in 2016, a major industrial revamping in 2019, and the attainment of the UNI EN 1090 certification in 2024—confirming the quality and compliance of its manufacturing processes.
Today, Aluscalae operates in Bologna as a specialized technical partner, blending industrial heritage, innovation, and a contemporary design vision to develop high-tech, bespoke systems.
